Caravan and Motorhome Industry Challenges
At Sabre, we’re well aware of the ongoing challenges caravan and motorhome manufacturers have to face in production.
Our extensive experience in the RV sector has enabled us to gain a unique insight into the common challenges faced by caravan and motorhome manufacturers:
Water Ingress can be caused by many factors including joint design, material compatibility, and application. Regardless of the cause, it can be a significant recurring warranty cost. Sabre caravan adhesives and sealants are formulated to deliver ultimate waterproofing and moisture protection in the toughest conditions.
RVs are expected to last for years in challenging environments with high UV exposure and extreme temperatures. Poor adhesive selection can jeopardise the durability and integrity of the RV, shortening its service life. Our adhesives are specifically formulated to provide long-term bond integrity and durability, increasing the lifespan of recreational vehicles.
A surge in demand for RVs has created unprecedented challenges for manufacturers as they seek to fill extensive backlogs. Sabre works closely with OEM management teams to identify solutions and bonding processes that increase their processing throughput and labour efficiencies.
Recent years have seen dramatic changes in the materials and technologies used to fabricate recreational vehicles, which can create bonding compatibility issues with traditional adhesives, leading to delamination. Our unique primerless adhesion technology enables durable bonding on a wide spectrum of materials.

Caravans and Motorhome Adhesive & Sealant Applications
Sabre provides market-leading single-component and two-component polyurethanes, and PUR reactive hotmelt adhesives are used in the production and lamination of caravan panels. Sabre’s solvent-free polyurethane adhesives can be found in a range of applications including bonding sidewalls, roofs, floors, and other composite panels.
Assembly bonding is a process used in the manufacturing of caravans and motorhomes where adhesives are used to bond various components of the vehicle together. This can include attaching the walls, roof, and floor to the frame, as well as bonding internal fixtures and fittings. The most common types of adhesives used for assembly bonding in caravans and motorhomes are MS polymer adhesives and structural acrylic adhesives. These types of adhesives are known for their high strength and durability, as well as their resistance to water, heat, and other environmental factors. They are also flexible and able to withstand dynamic movement and expansion caused by temperature changes and road vibrations.
Effective sealing of the vehicle body against water ingress is essential for the elimination of expensive warranty costs and quality claims from end customers. Sealing applications in caravans and motorhomes are used to protect the interior of the vehicle from water, dust, and other environmental elements. The most common areas that require sealing include around windows and doors, along the edges of panels and other components, and at any joints or seams where water could potentially enter the vehicle.
- Glass & Windscreen Glass Bonding
Sabre’s industry-leading high-performance MS Polymer adhesives for primerless direct glazing have helped assembly lines push the boundaries for decades. Our innovative range features products with high green strength and quick build-up of end strength. This offers the advantage of retaining glass in position following installation – eliminating the need for secondary fixing.
